July 2024 edition of Alma Mater out now

Posted on in General

The latest edition of the Alma Mater, our twice-yearly magazine, is now available, with printed copies sent home with students last week. You can also find the full magazine online here.

The Alma Mater provides a compilation of a wide range of activities and news updates from Terms 1 and 2 at St Mary’s College. It’s a wonderful way to keep St Mary’s College alumni connected to their fellow graduates and old stomping ground while also sharing alumni stories and profiles to inspire our current students.

In this edition, you can read about an award-winning artist fascinated with the natural world; a trained dancer cheering on the JackJumpers and a second-year Justice Studies student with a passion for social justice – plus you’ll learn about what life was really like at St Mary’s College as a weekly boarder in the 1940s.

This edition also includes articles from our Principal, Head Prefect and Alumni President; a contribution from our Director of Identity and Mission, who recently embarked on a pilgrimage to Ireland; an overview of Connect – the College’s new Learning Management System and a look at some of the creative ways that coding and digital literacy skills are being integrated into the classroom. Happy reading!

Groving our love of learning

St Mary's College is located on the traditional lands of the muwinina people of the South East Nation. We acknowledge and deeply respect the palawa people, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community, and all Elders past and present. We are committed to learning alongside our students and community in this place, nipaluna, and support the continued sharing of knowledge and culture.
